Observation details
Observed these 3 cranes along the edge of the stock pond from 8:05AM-8:15AM. Two were adults and one was a juvenile bird. The adults were snow white with a red crown, dark legs, and the black wing tips were visible as the birds foraged. The juvenile bird had cinnamon coloration on the neck and wing feathers. The birds either spent the night at the pond or made a brief stopover. The water level on the pond is very low due to an exceptional drought. Perhaps the pond was the only body of water for miles around and the birds took advantage of the water. Local birder Ronny Manchester saw the cranes at 8:30AM. Shortly thereafter, the cranes were gone.
