NOTES: LNS notes: Approximately, 4 minutes into the specimen, the recordist mentions that the R-130 is on and the filter is in. The recordist wrote the "BQR-3a Sonar" on the reel box. 24Mar2004JML. Reel Box Notes: "Track 1+2 , Speed 7.5 BQR-3a Sonar, Date: 6 Feb. 1969. ((on separate 5" reel) = crossed out on box). Time: 1735, Dr. Winn describes at end. Cut Noise: 3 Humps close no sounds heard porp squeel in B.g. Little Mona Isl. bearing. Sperms in background." Cut Noise repeated 2 more times, lines up with 'Little Mona Isl. bearing. 18Mar2004JML. "Cut 4-6 Tursiops on bow ride. Cut: Plain clicks + Scratchy clicks. Some E.L. clicks (good ones) 1/2 way." Log Notes: "3 humpbacks. 1745 hr. 3 humpbacks Feb. 7 1969. 100 ft. from bow. No sounds of the usual type. Sperm clicks evident. Moved ship. Back on for 3 whales - still no sounds. Supposed echo-click - noted on tape. One a little later not noted. Whales dead ahead, 100 yds or less. Perhaps some stray unknown clicks. None of the usual sounds from this group. Within 200 ft. of them again coouple of clicks within 50 ft. of ship. Under ship long close contact, no sounds." Deck Wildlife Watch: "Date: 06 Feb. 1969, Vessel: Trident, Cruise: #65, Ship's position at start: Mona Isl. P.R.. Weather, Sunny, Wind: 7 ENE, Sea state: 3, Visibility: 10 miles, Hour watch start: 0630. Time: 1745/1800: 3 whales we followed, no sounds, poss. E.L.. Went under ship twice, nothing heard.
