Eight birds in this image. They were shockingly well camouflaged as the roosted in the rocks.
Observation details
Probably continuing from 10/7. A peepster about 1/3 the size of nearby Killdeer. Short, decurved bill, drab gray-brown above, white below, hunching posture, pale yellow legs, hunkering down in the rocks and enjoying the sun. About 400 yards north of the north parking lot on the closed-to-vehicle-traffic road, which is really still 6700W. covered with rip-rap.
