NOTES: Notes from reel box: " WS#6, 1/31/78; 1710-1715; Uher 4400, 8-ball hydrophone, Kudelski, 3.75 ips - recorded in the presence of 2 adults engaged in 'chase' behavior within 100 yds of boat." Notes from recording log: "Caller heard in bkgd. Probably not the close animals as the signal was relatively weak." Notes from behavior log: "'Chase behavior' - animals first seen lolling at surface, rolling over, flippers extended, apeared to be in physical contact with one another. Then initiated chase behavior, both animals swimming and surfacing rapidly, one leading the other. Animals then slowed down and began surfacing synchronously side-by-side. Recording made while animals were within 100 yards. *Earlier pair seen "breezing" (as Flip calls it). One animal on its back, with flippers in the air, would move rapidly through the water headfirst. Created the appearance of a torpedo just at the surface, causing a huge white bow wake to trail and cover the animal. Pair then stopped and began simultaneous breaching. Believed to be same pair described in 1st paragraph (and recorded)." SEAOCEAN.
