Western Kingbird
Observation details
I first thought this to be a Tropical Kingbird but it has turned out to be freshly molted Western Kingbird.. I came upon it while looking for Sprague's Pipits and was amazed by the bright green back. That sent me off to the Tropical/Couch's kingbird, Several folks help try to refind it on the 6th of Oct until dark and then from 7am -12pm on the 7th, with no luck. I sent it off this morning to Van Remsen who sent it to Steve Cardiff and Steve immediately said small bill, and contrasting brown primaries with black upper tail coverts and black tail is Western Kingbird. So, it is a late western kingbird and thanks to all who help look for it again in the rainy stormy weather.
