Observation details
David Mootz who works for JOCO Parks and Rec. Called me to inform me that he was mowing a patch of field and was continually flushing a couple Virginia Rails. I went out there and was watching the area while he was mowing. We saw 2 Virginia Rails right away. He continued to mow and towards the end of the area being almost completely mowed a small rail with bright white secondaries flew away from the tractor on 2 occasions. I was able to get some photos of it twice flying away from us that shows the bright white secondaries. I had to leave and David was almost positive that he flushed another one in the last very small area that needed to be mowed. However we are only reporting the one. The area is now mowed...but I'd almost bet at least one Yellow Rail is still there! Photos to come soon.
