Observation details
Mozambique’s first record of White-rumped Sandpiper recorded by Gary Alport. A party of seven South African twitchers made the journey to twitch it and subsequently connected. The bird showed all features consistent with the species from streaked flanks, smaller size in comparison to surrounding Curlew Sandpipers, a shorter yet dumpier looking bill, a noticeable white rump in flight, elongated appearance and long primary projection.
