Observation details

Initially heard single, piercing "psiiiiiiii" call note when flushed. I heard it two more times before managing to track it to an open patch of bare ground around 50 metres away. The bird was sandier-toned than an American Pipit and had thick, pale streaks on the back. The belly was whitish and there were crisp dark streaks up the side. The legs were noted as being bright fleshy-pink. Due to the angle, I was unable to determine whether the bird had a "red" throat (i.e., alternate plumage). I managed a single recording of its flight call.
