NOTES: Agitated songs and calls recorded in three parts at 16:56, 17:28, and 18:04:46; though the bird was singing consistently before I got onto it the first time, it soon went quiet once I began recording; bird was initially 15 meters away and on or near ground; the bird eventually began singing again on its own (nearly a half-hour later), though the songs were of an agitated bird even before playback; the bird was 10 meters away and on or very near the ground in the second part; the second bird singing in the background was likely the reason why the principal bird was giving agitated songs; in response to tape playback of itself, the bird went shooting back-and-forth across road; the chip calls were apparently given by the second bird; the principal bird was seen relatively well and described briefly on tape; this cut comprised largely natural song, apparently of three birds, but the last part contains a few songs of the bird after tape playback; recorded in good, tall forest with a closed canopy and open understory; internal announcement is followed by songs after playback, when bird was 15-18 meters away; recorded along road to Rio Barra Seca, 250 meters from Estrada do Gave¿ [19¡ 04Õ 21" S, 39¡ 53Õ 47" W]; almost completely clear, consistently breezy, 88-89¡ F; microphone battery was low for first part of the cut; donÕt copy first few seconds. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
