NOTES: 112 songs and four long calls of bird #2 recorded in four parts at 5:37:40, 5:49:45, 6:08:03, and 6:10:42 as a continuation of cut #99-50-06 after missing 10 songs changing tape; bird used 2-3 perches while I changed tape, with first song on tape the second or third on its present tree, apparently the one it used most often, but where it was moving a little; bird was moving quite a bit, generally not going far each time, but still difficult to follow due to dense growth; following a long call by a second bird much time was apparently spent chasing this bird through the forest; I missed two songs during a gap with recorder back on at 5:50:51 but off again at 5:52:00; unseen bird was high (35-40 m up overhead) in and in dense growth; singing from trees along road for middle part of this cut but earlier it was to the west and south of this; bird began again at 5:56:25 with recorder back on at 5:56:53 after missing two songs, with me now on the road; recorder off again at 5:58:35 but back on again at 5:59:20 after missing two songs when bird moved, now high up in smaller tree to the west of its usual, large tree; I missed single songs at 6:08:26 and 6:08:55 but was back on bird at 6:09:12 with it in roughly the same place; off again at 6:10:42 with bird now 25 m up overhead in large tree; bird gave a long call at 6:15:29 but no more songs; recorded along logging road 1.3 km. W of highway; low but thin clouds, calm, 75-76¡ F. ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Ramphastos tucanus cuvieri to Ramphastos tucanus to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
