Observation details
Potential first state record. Small empidonax flycatcher. Observed off and on for about an hour. Mostly cloudy, hazy sun. Square-headed look. Very small, mostly dark bill. Gray head, olive-gray back. Wings dark, contrasting with back, with two wing bars. Throat light gray. Vested look on breast with gray on sides washed with yellow down to belly. White edge to outer tail feathers. White eye ring thicker on the back of the eye. Narrow, notched tail. Wagged tail downward. Longish primary projection. Very fresh looking plumage. Direct comparison with Least Flycatcher. Least was grayer overall, with light lower mandible. Did not call. Seen well as close as 5 meters. Perched on wood pile and on shrubs and trees.
