Observation details
Identified as jaeger by shape (and alerted to its presence by the RBGU on the beach taking off simultaneously.) Initial impression was that it was small and graceful in comparison to RBGU nearby. Appeared dark at a distance from above, but had a noticeable white flash in the underwing. Also a pale collar and rump. It flew in much closer, maybe within 20-30 yards and Terry Walsh and I could see it had only 2 obvious white shafts on the upperwing. The extended central tail feathers were also rounded, not pointed. Photos show neatly barred black and white undertail and rump.
