Observation details
Hepatic Tanager size flycatcher. This bird had a very obvious orange-red face, breast, and chest. The bill and tail appeared black; the legs appeared dark in color. Wings were black with two white wing bars. The upper wing bar was wider and more prominent than lower wing bar. The eye was black. There appeared to be a small grayish ¿oval mask¿ surrounding the eye, similar in appearance to a Hepatic Tanager. The back was mainly same orange-red as head and breast but had several black stripes running down the back. This bird was seen in the company of a female Western Tanager on the first three observations. The last observation the bird was by itself. At this time it started singing. The song sounded similar to a Hepatic Tanager and Western Tanager but sounded louder and a bit different.
