NOTES: Reel notes: "14¡57' 60¡57' 1800 posit. Frog like sund croaker species Martinique area of time 1825-1857. R-130 filter out. Humpback, incomplete calls - 300 yds distant. 13 Feb 1972. Other biologics heard, croaker types snap shrimp level high. Fly bridge mike noise heard 1st 1/4 of tape. Hump level low at start. Warble tone shipboard diesel gen. Best parts after first inch of tape. Several recording level changes, ship line voltage fluctuates. One complete call." Tape Log: "SHL-1-6 13 Feb 1972. Time 1825, R-130 xphone, engines off. Starts off, animal is near end of his call, signal level is good. Snapping shrimp level is high, the frog like sounding croaker fish is heard in and out - animal signal level gets poor for a while. About 3/4 way thru (due to ship's low power supply) our tape recorder level drops down temporarily. Animal signal level improves. Feedback interference from flying bridge 'open mike' onto the sound channel for a short while. Animal stops calling 1/3 way thru for a short spell, re-calls - fair low level croaker sounds during this period, shrimp too are noisey. Animal level fair, the it stops calling, hear 1 pulse, weak. This reel has good to fair signals, but no real complete calls." SEAOCEAN.
