Observation details
Juvenile bird with conspicuous white area on throat noted. Dark eye, no red seen. Overall color of bird was brownish. Bird seen at 5:53 a.m. This is my first Glossy Ibis seen at Delta Park and/or Chittenden County. A very nice and quite lucky surprise. It lifted off the northern edge of the marsh, flew north then came back and landed. That was when I saw the whitish area on its’ throat. Then it picked up and flew around the point and toward the big sand bar. It then flew back toward me and over my head while heading north. It flew out of sight at 6:01 a.m. It may swing back through. I’ll keep me posted. I did not see it again. I left at 7:55 a.m. Really bad and distant photos below. It was still a bit too dark for good photos.
