Media notes
Poor photo of the first sighting. Might this individual be a younger male, without the vivid red eye ring of the other bird seen?
Observation details
The location was along the trail that parallels Garden Wash, about 50 yards west of where the path turns west. First we saw a male bird, photographed. Then it flew into the wash to the south. Then about 3 minutes later, having walked further east, we saw another male. This male was very bright and had an obvious red eye ring. It didn't look like the one we had just seen (and which had flown the other way, but could have then turned direction). But examining my photo of the first bird, this one is much more muted and does not have a bright red eye ring. So, amazingly, I'm pretty confident there were two birds.
