Observation details

***Mega; first county record and apparent 10th state record. Picked up while scanning with binoculars at 7:08am flying over the water. Facing west, it was heading southwest. Through binoculars, it was an obvious duck (first thoughts were WWSC or COEI because of the white on wings), and immediately after picking it up I photographed it to get an ID. Upon showing the photos to the others, it was an obvious Black-bellied Whistling Duck. Unfortunately, by the time all five scopes and several binoculars attempted to pick it up again it had vanished. Not many other details to add as it was photographed right after picking it up and we were unable to relocate it afterwards. Only the short view through binoculars and camera viewfinder were the views I had. Regardless, the photos show an unmistakable BBWD.
