Observation details
Bennett says the Beni Softtails may be a separate species. I observed allopreening and nest construction. Nest was 12-14 m up in a Cecropia in distrubed riverside forest and scrub, with Gynerium cane. Birds were stripping cane and using strips for nest. Also birds were using vine tangles. Very responsive to playback. Photographed.
