Observation details
In spring 2017 Lee K. conducted a survey on a property along the Blanco River where he thought he heard a White-tipped Dove but dismissed it as more likely a White-winged Dove. One year later on April 22, 2018, Mark G. heard this species at the same location and recorded the call on his phone. Other biologists and birders agreed that it sounded good for a White-tipped Dove. The next morning as I was surveying on the property I heard the doves calling at multiple locations too far apart to be a single individual. I have 3 individuals listed to be conservative, but I likely heard at least 4 or 5 White-tipped Doves. All were right along the river in fairly dense undergrowth. I approached a calling dove with my camera and although I could clearly hear it about 15 feet away, the undergrowth was just too dark and dense and I wasn't able to see it.
