Observation details
Uncommon breeder locally. Two adults and at least one recently fledged juv. Possibly more than just one juv, but couldn't find more than one at a time. The male was much smaller than the female but they both had small heads and squared tails. The juv was very dark overall and had a slightly shorter tail than the adults. The juv was obviously new to flying, only making short unsteady flights between the trees. It did fly over to the female a couple times and made begging sounds, but we did not observe it actually getting fed. All three birds were vocalizing, but the female was extremely territorial, constantly calling and flying around in the trees above us. After about 20 minutes of watching them, the female finally had enough of us hanging around and started diving at us. We got the message so we left.
