Adult male in basic plumage.
Observation details
Two ducks with bluish bills, heads and most of back and wings black. One adult male in basic plumage, with white flanks and grayish back. Other an adult male in eclipse plumage, overall dark with white band in wing. Ring-necked duck eliminated by lack of band at base of bill. Greater Scaup eliminated by head shape, showing pronounced point in back, generally tall narrow profile. Two Lesser Scaup were reported at this location in May; probably continuing birds.
