Observation details
On gravel bar / shore of Middle Salt Lagoon at corner of Stevenson and Cakeeater Rds. Presumed first summer bird. Small sandpiper with brownish gray plumage. Mantle plumage seems to be in transition with some feathers showing darker centers and others not, consistent with first summer Temminck's. Breast smooth brownish, though not all the ways across. Whiter throat. Tail longer than wings. White eye-ring. White eye stripe. Black bill lightly decurved. Flesh colored legs. Eliminated LESA by GISS, especially long tail and SESA by flesh colored legs, long tail and more brownish tone to plumage. Pics circulated on ABA Advanced Bird ID page. Many thanks to Mike Todd and Wyatt Egelhoff for the assist.
