Observation details
Lifer. Petite long tailed doves with brown wings and back & white spotting on coverts, one with obvious vivid red eye ring (male) the other paler & less obvious (female?), pale grey head, mantle & chest graduating to off white belly & vent, pink feet. Located along the track that travels from the yellow gate behind the first line of trees to the river lagoon. Walk to the end of the shelter belt line to where the way is blocked by temporary fencing and the recently ploughed field begins - had them warming up in the sun perched in the eucalypts then feeding in the ploughed field. NB other birders have also reported a juvenile bird, possible breeding?
