Townsend's Storm-Petrel over 7 Black and 3 Ashy Storm-Petrels. Note the white wrapping around to sides of under tail coverts on Townsend's, along with small size, blackish coloration, and shortish triangular wings. [For comparison to Townsend's and Black, note the smaller-than-Black-SP on the gray Ashy Storm-Petrel right-most bird with pale under wing linings.]

Observation details

Medium-sized dark storm-petrel with bright white rump patch wrapping around to underside, long relatively narrow angular wings, and bounding erratic flight. This bird was slightly smaller, darker, and shorter tailed than white-rumped subspecies of Leach’s. Photos will be uploaded.
