Observation details
Continuing bird photographed on the 6th. Seen foraging by itself. Appeared slightly smaller than Greater White-fronted Goose. Neck shorter and stouter than Greater white-fronted. Dark face and bill. Tannish-gold head with streaking in nape and sides of neck. White undertail and lower belly. Cool gray in flanks. Warm golden-brown breast. Bill shoehorn shaped like a Canada Goose, but rather compact, merging with a steep forehead (suggestive of Tundra rather than Taiga, as is general size and structure of bird). Crown rather flat. Bill dark with orange splotch near the middle with a black tip. Dark eye. Watched as it aggressively tore up tundra while foraging. Silent.
