Observation details
Excellent but brief looks as this continuing rarity foraging deep in grass and piles of plant/tree debris along east bank of river. Bright white supercilium; bold white streaks about the face; very warm brown overall (vs. BEWR); shorter tailed than BEWR, but tail not held almost constantly cocked up (vs. HOWR); bold black barring on clean white UnT coverts. The bird became agitated (no audio or pishing used), and began giving a very raspy scold, not entirely unlike a HOWR, but stronger and sharper; this call is not to be confused with SIWR's "socket wrench" ratcheting call, or its song.
