Media notes
The "song" is just audible in the back ground just at the end of the recording
Observation details
I first heard one vocalizing, its song a hoarse wooden guttural "co co co" with a similar sound and pattern as a Black Billed Cuckoo. In trying to get close enough to get my camera to pick up audio, I flushed a female and then a few paces later a male. they were similar in size to the Sora, with dark wings with bright yellowish, buff, shoulder patches. Also the neck and under parts buffy, with a dark cap and large pale bill. Bill shape heron like. The female was considerably lighter. I saw this pair while the third bird was persistently vocalizing a couple hundred feet further into the marsh.
