Observation details
First seen at 5:30 in the middle of the most northwest clump of tule in the large pond that is north of the entrance road (near the main offices). Like a WFIB, but with blue lines above and below eye (not behind), dark iris, very gray facial skin (studied closely), gray legs with contrasting dull red knees, and dark/glossy appearance to body feathers. Appeared to be working on building a nest in said tule patch for the two hours we were watching it. Hundreds of WFIB also present and working on nests. We were later joined by, and observed the bird with, Joan, Kirk, Rick, Jason, Jessie, and Keith. 38.667711, -121.718849
