NOTES: Interesting behaviourl context, birds responded to alarm call by sitting in tree beside F.rufus. Birds in tree were C.turdinus (4), F.rufus (3), Pitangus sulphuratus, M. cayanensis, Trogon curucui, T. melancholicus, Icterus cayanensis, Pitangus lictor, and close by an approach of a Xiphocolaptes major. The area is natural pampas (grasslands) with gallery forests and forest islands, also influenced by chaco (dry forest) of southern Bolivia. All of the area is highly grazed and burnt anually. Most of the birds, especially the Psittacids, were found in forest islands, often dominated by what the locals call Motacu palms, which have plentiful fruits. These recordings were made at a secret location of the threatened political endemic Ara glaucogularis site. Further information on the location must be obtained through Alan Hesse at Armonia (Bolivia BirdLife partner) at armonia@scbbs-bo.com . Other Behaviors: Emit Alarm. Habitat: Savannah.
