Observation details
Possibly late for this ssp but status uncertain; many breeders still arriving in Maine and Maritimes well into June, so timing here seems okay despite scarcity of spring records. Rather bright on face and breast (brighter than many Atlantic Coast birds) but quite pale overall with drab, grayish upperparts, low contrast pale back lines. From interior birds by broad gray lateral throat stripes, wash of grayish on eyebrow (vs cleaner yellowish-orange supraloral), relatively pale/low contrast dark head and back markings (no blackish elements), relatively broad gray central crown stripe. Repeatedly singing “sea-sick” song (apparently similar between ssp). Photos.
