Observation details
After not seeing a single shorebird between 112th and 96th, I spotted a small group of BBPL and WESA at 9:40 about 200m west of the mansion. Amongst them was a small, light Charadrius plover lying on the ground, facing directly away from me. My first thought was leucistic SEPL. After walking out onto the flats, I scoped the bird from a distance. It was still facing directly away from me. Suddenly, it flipped around, revealing its black side patches, auriculars, and forehead! The bird continued to forage in the same area for the next 40 minutes, very loosely associating with 5 WESA. At 10:25, a Bald Eagle flushed everything in the area, and the flocks took off west and scattered. I was unable to relocate the bird over the next 2 1/2 hours. 21st provincial record, 6th for the county and first since 2003. Accepted by the BCFO records committee https://bcfo.ca/brc-rounds-24-25-june-to-october-2018-accepted-records/
