Observation details
Bird seen well exhibiting characteristic behaviour of Eastern/Western WP, hawking from high, exposed perch and returning to same perch almost incessantly. First seen around 2 pm and relocated nearby around 5:30 pm, when photographs were taken. Bird was silent. Identification based on less conspicuous upper wing bar compared to lower, and very reduced/absent pale coloration at base of lower mandible. Has also been reported and sound recorded from nearby Cabanas San Isidro by Mitch Lysinger (https://www.xeno-canto.org/260929). Seems very late for a migrating bird, but perhaps this was a straggling wanderer.
