Observation details
Single duck by itself flushed from shallow pond near the lake. The pictures show a large dark brown dabbling duck with a tan neck and head. In flight the ducks wings were completely dark on top with dark purplish blue secondaries and a very narrow white bar. The bill appears to be orange and when the bird was in flight it's vocalizations sounded like a mallard.
