Observation details
Found this morning by Jonathan Batkin. Originally seen from about 100 yards north of the one-lane wooden bridge south (downstream) to the large cottonwood immediately south of that bridge. Observed by approx. 10 birders. Bright lemon yellow below, black necklace across breast, black face, complete white eye-ring, gray above; singing. Observed for many minutes. Interestingly, this bird remained quite high in the canopy which seems abnormal for a species that generally spends the greater portion of its time in shrubbery and low trees. Quite a few observers were able to photograph this great bird thanks to Jonathan getting the word out immediately. Still being observed as we left the scene at 9 a.m. This was a first county record for Santa Fe, and only the 17th record for New Mexico!
