Post copied from OC Birding, September 4, 2011: I was bound and determined to find a Baird's Sandpiper this fall on San Juan Creek near Doheny, I have been walking the east side trail along the creek above and below the Stonehill crossing several times over the past month or so. Today, I finally hit pay dirt, finding a single BASA around 9:55A about 150 yards north of the PCH bridge. Not much else around, 10-20 SEPL scattered along the creek, 5-6 GRYE, 50 or so LESAs and a few WESA juvies.
