Media players for MPEG-4 and other standards

  • Apple's Quicktime (Mac and Windows) free but solicits you to spend $30 to upgrade to the professional version. The upgrade is worth it if you want to do some basic work with your own video. Quicktime Pro is included with Final Cut Pro.
  • Real Player (look hard to find the free version, works on Mac, Windows, and they have a Linux/Unix Player too.)
  • VLC is a highly flexible open source media player with versions for just about every operating system out there.

Wildlife film festivals

Study natural history filmmaking

  • Montana State University is the only degree program in Natural History Film.
  • Adventure Travel while you learn to film wildlife (Not an endorsement, as we've never been on one of these trips, but they look fun)
