NOTES: BIRDS WALKED ABOUT OUTSIDE BURROWS. CALLS MORE LIKE BRAYING OF A FIORDLAND CRESTED PENGUIN THAN THE USUAL CATERWAULING OF SHEARWATERS. VARIES ACCORDING TO SEASON. SNOW PATCHES IN AREA THIS TIME OF YEAR. BIRDS FLEW IN FROM SEA ABOUT 7:30 PM. AND STARTED CALLING BUT COULDN'T GET RECORDING. AT 4:15 AM SOME BIRDS LANDED ALMOST ON TOP OF THE MIKE AND A LOUD RECORDING WAS OBTAINED. SOME CLUNKING NOISE DUE TO TAPE DEFECT.
