NOTES: BIRDS SAT OUTSIDE OR INSIDE THEIR BURROWS (IN 75' CLIFF WITH SHRUBS). SEVERAL ADULTS. VOICE APPEARS TO BE SOMEWHAT LOWER PITCHED THAN WEDGE-TAILED SHEARWATERS; OTHERWISE HAS SIMILAR GROWLS; CATERWAULS; SNARLS. SEVERAL BIRDS HIT MRS. WARD AND ONE HIT THE RECORDER AS THEY FLEW IN. NO DAMAGE WAS DONE. THE BIRDS ARE INEPT IN THEIR LANDINGS OFTEN SMASHING INTO THE BUSHES AND THEN WADDLING TO THEIR BURROWS.
