ON HILLSIDE UNDER TREE ROOTS FOUND SEVERAL BURROWS - TWO OCCUPIED. BIRDS SILENT. DARKNESS FELL ABOUT 1830; A FEW BIRDS CAME CIRCLING IN. WIND AND A FEW RASPING CHATTERS OF BIRDS RECORDED. WIND STOPPED; BIRDS BECAME NOISIER AND RECORDINGS MADE (BIRDS AT OR NEAR BURROWS). RAPID CHITTERING AND SLOWER CAWING. NOT MUCH RESEMBLANCE TO SHEARWATER MOANINGS.
