    Equipment Note

NOTES: Songs of male recorded along small road exiting Avenida Perimetral Oeste across from hotel. Bird was 3 m up and apparently 10-12 m away in very dense second-growth along road when recorded. In response to playback of itself, bird approached as was well seen; it also moved up higher in vegetation and gave similar songs (though at times it remained quiet). When it sang, bird pumped its tail rapidly. Some blue sky but mostly overcast; mid 70s.

ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus eytoni to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [eytoni Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
