    Equipment Note

NOTES: Bird was seen moving 1-3 m up along edge of road through scrubby growth of medium density, very little of which was bamboo. Initially 5 m, later 15-20 m, and finally about 8-10 m away. Foraging and moving constantly, thus several parts separated by periods of walking up on bird. Seen well, but no apparent response to playback. Along road to Rio Paranapanema through somewhat scrubby forest. 90¡ F, partly cloudy, calm. Mike attenuators on and using Benchmark MicMan Jr. preamp with Sennheiser ME-64 microphone in 24" Roche parabola. Copied with HPF@180 Hz.
