NOTES: REMNANT OF FLOOD-PLAIN FOREST BESIDE RIVER. THIS PAIR HAD BEEN BUILDING A NEST IN AN ABANDONED WOODPECKER NEST-HOLE MUCH OF THE PREVIOUS DAY AND EARLIER THIS MORNING. NOW THEY CAME TO THE TREE WITHOUT NESTING MATERIAL. THEY BEGAN COURTSHIP; RAPID MOVEMENTS AROUND TRUNK, JUMPING AND FLUTTERING FROM ONE STUB TO ANOTHER, OCCASIONALLY PAUSING WITH MUCH WING FLUTTERING. THEN A BRIEF COPULATION. THE ENTIRE PERFORMANCE WAS ACCOMPANIED BY THE SOFT TWITTERING RECORDED HERE. AFTER COPULATION THE PAIR FLEW AWAY, ONE GIVING THE MORE TYPICAL VOCALIZATIONS OF THE SPECIES.
