NOTES: (Time: 0900 +/-1005. Bkground Sounds: Flies (Hover!). Breeding Status: Territorial, territorial paired, breeding. Stimulus for Sound: Natural, then playback own song. Behav. Context: "Scold" calls after songs. Gen. Habitat: See Diamond (editor) Studies of Mascarene Island Birds, Cambridge Universityi Press 1987.) A second individual is heard in the distance twice then again. The scold call is response to playback. As he came in very close, then he sang a number of songs (the HOVER flies are bad) close in near me as he continued to forage. This was a male seemingly with no female but with a marked response to playback--each time as he moved away he would return--no female calls recorded at this time. Scold song, song & "kek" calls are heard.
For detailed notes regarding playback and other data refer to Edit Notebook Mauritius #II.
