NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut #101. Bulk reel #524
EBRG captive birds.
a) 2 Dec 1974. Contest calls by bird (#8) R. orange; presumably a young male bird, in my room, answering callsl by bird(s) in aviary outside my rooom. (These sometimes heard very faintly in the recording preceding the calls of R. orange.) Also heard is a call of Tiaris obscuras [Sporophila obscura]. Quality: "1." Leel: +3. 203 tape. LN. 7.5 ips. No parabola.
b) 8 Dec 1974. 6:40 AM. More of same. Quality: "1." Level: 0, +3. 7.5 ips. LN.
Bird #8 R. orange, presumably a young male, had been captured ca. Boqueron on 25 Nov 1974, together with [illegible word, possibly "ten"] other birds. The other birds were released 26 Nov into my aviary but #8 was held in small cage until I could examine more closely the details of its plumage, for it appears to be a bird born this year and now in its first basic plumage but has a few black feathers. In the same cage is a 57-day old Tiaris obscuras [Sporophila obscura] (hand raised); this cage was kept inside my room in front of the window while the aviary was outside, next to the window.
