NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 84. Bulk reel: 385
I was @ the site by 5:15 AM. There was still no activity up to 5:25 AM, although by this time yesterday there had begun activity both up the ravine and near me. The first activity noted today began ~ 5:23, up the ravine. "My bird" displayed ~ 5:29; the branch on which he alighted broke (it almost fell on me), which may have disconcerted the bird, for he did not display again the whole morning; also his "whistles" were fewer than normal (some recorded). He kept following after the female but without displaying. There was some quiet talk between them which was not saved due to excessive traffic noise.
"Ascending whistles" (note 2-tone in first whistle!!)
203 tape. Quality: 1-2. Level: +3. LN.
8/VI/73 - Km 21, on site by 5:05 AM, cloudy on this side. @ 5:23 heard first display (up ravine). By 5:23 "my bird" had not yet been active. Two different birds displaying on the slope above the hollow (a ravine): one on far side and one on near side. "My bird" never did become active, at least @ my location; could it have been the near side bird above the hollow?
