*Identification not 100% but I believe it is correct. There is no other spinetail in this area except S. albescens and also the present species responded to playback of this recording, although it didn't stay in the vicinity nor sing in response. [Apparently later note: "Ident. OK. PAS]
In the vicinity where I recorded Cut 2 there was a nest (inactive) very similar to the nest of S. albescens but with the entrance tunnel twice as long (or more) as the tunnel would normally be on S. albescens. However, I don't know if this nest is of S. albescens or P. candei.
21 May 1974 - ~ 15 [sic] SW of Guarero (Goajira), Zulia. Nest with three (or four?) (don't recall exactly) fresh eggs, greenish-white. Nest structure ~ 1.5 m. up in bush in woods was large and rather formless, as if it had been built among remains of an older nest. The long entrance tunnel therefore was not built out separately but rather alongside the apparently older structure.
