Q 2,1-2

BNA: The Typical Song ("sweet-sweet-te-te-te--tt-tt-t-t-t") is heard. CZ 17/06/2004.

[This alternates between the "downslurred" trills and the "upslurred" trills of BNA (both considered typical song), interspersed by several of what appear to be "false starts." Downslurred trills at: 0:25, 0:33, 0:42, 0:50, 1:07, 1:34, 2:05, 2:10, 2:33, 2:49, 2:57, 3:27, 3:39, 4:08, 4:27, and 4:48. Upslurred trills at: 0:38, 1:12, 1:18, 1:21, 1:29, 2:01, 2:14, 2:21, 2:38, 2:46, 3:00, 3:06, 3:11, 3:15, 3:30, 3:43, 3:57, 4:24, 4:32, 4:43, and 5:02. Most of the "false starts" were between 4:55 and 5:21, with others scattered elsewhere. Also heard are wing fluttering and some soft, "chip" calls (2:41-2:47 and 5:29). This represents S. a. evura based on range, which may explain why the "upslurred" songs differ from those pictured in BNA (based on California birds). Quality added 2,1-2 (rumble in part before announcement) - CAM - 6 January 2005]
