NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 5. Bulk reel: 202; verbal notes; Extra cut(s) on bulk reel: 203; Extra cut length: 3:05a) 2:30 AM. Several (4-5 audible to ear) birds were singing but not all can be heard on this recording. The loudest is a bird on west side of road. (Near end are flight calls of Nyctibius grandis.) Quality: 3. Level: +14.b) 3:00 to 3:45 AM. Now nearer to bird on east side of road. Besides "booming song" can hear whistles. Can't seem to determine if these are given by the booming bird or by another, perhaps the female. More of this can be heard faintly in background of Cut 27 of Nyctidromus albicollis. Quality: 3. Level: +14.Then I was able to get a little closer. (Can't filter below 250 Hz on this boom song.)Note: After daylight this bird gave "wing flaps" on two occasions. See letter 4 May 1963 to Amadon. (See also P. jacquacu Cut 15.)Note: See field notes after Cut 3 on editing sheet of Mitu [Crax] tomentosa.Field note 9 Apr 1968 added at end Reel 1 re: bill color and [illegible].
