NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 22. Bulk reel: 169
Weather: Cloudy, fair. Natural "day time" song, Bird #2. Quality: 1. Level: +3.
Trogon collaris and Drymophila caudata also heard. Quality: 1. Level: 0.
Before I started to record, this bird was singing only (or mainly?) three-figure phrases, but when I began recording, it used mostly four-figure although a couple three-figures are heard. Then it changes to a combination of four-figure phrases and multi-figure phrases.
Note: Between 15" & 20" of this recording is heard some flight vocalizations by another individual of this Saltator. [sic]
Same bird, after playback. Quality: 1. Level: -3, 0.
"Purr" calls of Columba subvinacea are heard in beginning.
Some flight calls in here, too (by singing bird) as it flew. The last is best.
ML: Background subject changed from Drymophila caudata to D. klagesi to reflect current taxonomy. --Jay McGowan 19Sep2013
