NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 56. Bulk reel: 131; Extra cut(s) on bulk reel: 132; Extra cut length: 3:30203 tape.Rain, high cloudy.a) 18/V/74. 7:00 AM. Natural song. Phrases are three-figure: (* . .). Noisy background due to river. Quality: 3. Level: +2.Then bird closer after whistled imitation and playback. Phrases are four-figure (* . . .) Quality: 2. Level: +2. 3.75 ips. LN.b) 7:10 AM. With more playback this bird flew across the river and this recording was made there. I believe the bird being recorded is the same one although in places the voice seems of higher pitch. The bird in focus becomes somewhat "hoarse" as result of my continued imitations and playback. It seemed more "bothered" by these than by the song of the second bird, which was at times not over 10-15 m. away from it. Quality: 3 to 1. Level: +2. 3.75 ips. LN.A second bird is heard; its voice is distinctly different and drops in pitch as it develops. Quality: 1. Level: +3. 7.5 ips. LN.c) 19/V/74. 10:30 AM. This is very probably same bird. It is on same side of river as in part a) Four-figure song. This bird was singing long phrases such as I imitated for Cut 55. I imitated these and bird came closer but remained on that side of river. Quality: 1-. Level: +3. 3 3/4 ips. LN.
